Transformations of Functions 4: Horizontal Stretch, Compression & Reflection

There are four different transformations you can do to a function:

• a vertical translation,
• a horizontal translation,
• a vertical stretch/compression/reflection and
• a horizontal stretch/compression/reflection.

Each of these transformations is key to looking at the characteristics and features of functions that we study.

In this video, we will be looking at horizontal stretches, compressions, and reflections (reflections in the y-axis). We will look at what these transformations are, how they affect the graph, and how to apply them.
